State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11

State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11

State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11

HM Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Mrs Anna Turner attended the State Funeral of her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II in London on September 19th representing the people of Shropshire. Mrs Turner had also been able to visit Westminster Hall during her Late Majesty’s Lying in State, an experience she said was deeply moving and humbling. “Attending the State Funeral, with the juxtaposition of the grief and sorrow of the Royal Family and the nation, together with being able to express the gratitude of the nation for Her Late Majesty’s extraordinary life of service and duty, was a privilege and an experience that none of us there will ever forget”.

The night before the State Funeral, Shropshire held its own County Memorial Service at Shrewsbury Abbey . The Lord Lieutenant, The High Sheriff, council members and civic representatives were in attendance together with  members of the public.

Other Shropshire residents who attended the State Funeral included recipients of Honours in the 2022 Queen’s Birthday Honours. Click here to read more
