17 Nov New painting in aid of The Army Benevolent Fund
On Armistice Day Veronica Lillis DL represented the LL at the Private View of a one day exhibition in the Memorial Hall Oswestry entitled ‘Remembrance’ organised by the artist Elizabeth Darlington who is contracted as the ‘official artist’ for the Army Benevolent Fund – the Soldiers Charity. The artist and her husband Richard pictured in front of the painting specially commissioned by the ABF with all profits from sales going to the charity.
Through the Night
The symbolism in the painting comes from the challenges associated with PTSD and the difficulty in getting ‘through the night.’ Mental health issues are often exacerbated at night; in the darkness, problems appear far bigger and more fearsome than by the light of day.
