Lord-Lieutenant’s Garden Party

The Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Mrs Anna Turner JP, will be hosting a special Garden Party on June 8th 2022 to celebrate the extraordinary contributions made by individuals within their local communities throughout the Pandemic. Covid-19 heroes from throughout the county have been invited to attend this special event thanks to nominations from Town and Parish Councils and others.

Mrs Turner said “I wanted to celebrate the help and support  so freely offered by members of the Shropshire community to their neighbours throughout the Pandemic and felt that this event,  a very special Garden Party modelled on those held at Buckingham Palace, would be a fitting way of saying thank you. I know that across our beautiful County people have been innovative in the way they have helped their communities, some have given time to delivering shopping, collecting prescriptions, medication and checking on poorly neighbours.    By stepping forward and showing fortitude and compassion they are helping to keep our communities thriving. It is these unsung heroes that I look forward to welcoming to our Garden Party so that on behalf of our communities I can say a collective and heartfelt ‘Thank You’.”

The Garden Party will be held at Orleton Hall, Wellington by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Holt and is made possible by a number of generous private donations and the support of some key Shropshire businesses.
