Deputy Lieutenant Fiona Rogers-Coltman represented the Lord-Lieutenant at the Mayor’s Sunday in Bishops Castle – The day started with a procession from the Town Hall at the top of the town down to St John the Baptist Parish Church led by the Bishops Castle’s Bedlams and Martha Rhoden’s Tuppenny Dish morris dancers . The Mayor, councillors and their guests were accompanied by the council’s mace and pike bearers.
The Church was packed in support of the new Mayor, 24 year old Josh Dicken who is currently the youngest Mayor in Shropshire. The Rev Stephanie Fountain took the service and Josh gave us his reflections on Covid and how the town supported each other during the difficult time. After the service he took the opportunity to present 20 awards in recognition of individuals and organisations who went above and beyond during covid and presented them with certificates and bowls.
