Shropshire Fire & Rescue Award Ceremony

Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire, Anna Turner, attended an award ceremony at Theatre Severn to present  long service and good conduct awards to Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) staff who have achieved 20 or 30 years service. Miniature medals for family members of serving firefighters were also presented by Councillor Eric Carter, Chair of Shropshire and Wrekin Fire Authority.

Before presenting the medals, Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Mrs Anna Turner  said: “You make Shropshire a better place to be and these medals are proof of that”

Adam Mathews, Area Manager and host for the evening, said: “We haven’t been able to host these awards nights for the past 18 months due to covid restrictions, so to see everyone here and able to celebrate with their families has been really special.  Our long-serving members of staff bring so much knowledge and experience to the Service that they more than deserve the spotlight on them for the evening, it’s equally important that we recognise the support of their families “ .
