
14 Jun Shropshire citizens recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours 2025
The Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Mrs Anna Turner is delighted to share that 6 individuals from Shropshire have been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours list.
She said, “I am delighted for our county that Shropshire citizens have been recognised for their contributions to such diverse sectors as Waste Management, Technology, Sport, Road Safety, Community and fund raising.
I would like to congratulate them all for the work they have done in these areas.”
Recipients are:
Officers of the Order of the British Empire (OBE’s)
Mr. Richard Howells, Telford – Founder, Bronze Software Labs. For services to Business and Technology.
Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE’s)
Mr. Simon Lusty, Ludlow – Publications Manager, Driving Standards Agency. For services to Road Safety.
Mrs. Christine Still, Newport – For services to Gymnastics.
Medallists of the Order of the British Empire (BEM’s)
Mr. Donald Bannister, Bridgnorth – Chair of the Volunteer Committee, Severn Valley Country Park. For services to the Environment in Shropshire
Mr. James Colin Diggory, Nesscliffe – For services to the community in Nesscliffe, in particular litter collection.
Mr. John Robert McGlasson, Newport – Training Support Officer, No 1 Radio School, RAF Cosford. For services to Defence and charitable fund raising.
The Lord-Lieutenant for Shropshire, Anna Turner said:
“It brings me a huge amount of pleasure to see that Shropshire residents have been recognised by His Majesty for the outstanding work they have done. These medals are only given to a small proportion of people who have either achieved something exceptional in public life or selflessly made life better for others. It is a proud moment for all of us and I would like to congratulate them all for their incredible efforts.”
The Honours system singles out individuals who have gone above and beyond in their field of interest, or through volunteering.
Allocated on merit, the Honours system sees recipients identified by government departments, private and public bodies, and members of the public to ensure that all aspects of community life in Britain are rewarded.
