Earlier this month the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire Jenny Wynn was delighted to attend the first Shrewsbury Big Mend organised by Veolia and in association with Shrewsbury Repair Cafe.
The event, which celebrated International Repair Day was held at Presfelde School and featured skilled volunteers who repaired a wide range of items, in total 137 items were repaired including clocks, hair straighteners and a vintage pinball machine among items. Makers and menders were breathing new life into broken bits and bobs, saving their owners some cash and the items from the dustbin.
Halls auctioneers were also at the event offering free valuations for items including jewelery, Silver and antiques.
