The Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Anna Turner, attended the High Sheriff of Shropshire, Tony Morris-Eyton’s Legal Service in the magnificent chapel at Shrewsbury School.
The Legal Service marks the end of the shrieval year for the High Sheriff and he took the opportunity to reflect on his year in office, to thank all the wonderful people he had met who serve the county, the volunteers from so many different charities and organisations. He reflected on the beauty of our county and the many delights of living here but also on the social issues that the county faces.
He gave thanks for the Queen’s Peace in the presence of the leading regional figures from the Judiciary, the Police and visiting High Sheriffs.
The wonderful Choir from Shrewsbury School sang St Francis’ prayer; O thou, The Central Orb; Psalm 150 and the Magnicat from St Luke.
Prayers were led by the High Sheriff’s Chaplain, Reverend Christine Simpson and the Bishops of Shrewsbury, Rt Reverend Sarah Bullock delivered a wonderful sermon.
The retiring collection was in aid of Shrewsbury Street Pasters, who do such wonderful work supporting those that need help on the streets of our county town late at night.
The High Sheriff in Designation is Selina Graham who takes office next month.
