King Charles 111 recognises Shropshire residents in New Years Honours

The Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Mrs Anna Turner is delighted to share that 15 individuals from Shropshire have been recognised in the King’s New Year’s Honours list. 

Mrs Turner said, “it is a proud moment for our county that 15 Shropshire citizens have been recognised for their contributions to such a wide range of causes. I would like to congratulate them all for their efforts.”

Recipients are:

Officers of the Order of the British Empire

Mr John Edward GORMLEY – Lately Governor HM Prison The Mount, HM Prison and Probation Service. For Public Service (Shropshire)

Mrs Advolly Xotshiwe TAYLOR RICHMOND – Plant, Garden, Social Historian and Champion, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. For services to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in Horticulture (Shropshire)

Members of the Order of the British Empire

Mr Keith Henry George BOWLEY – Volunteer, Bridgnorth Community Trust. For services to the community in Bridgnorth (Shropshire)

Mrs Kathryn Anne CREWE-READ – Lately Headteacher, Bishop’s Stortford College. For services to Education (Shropshire)

Mrs Tracey Annette DIX-WILLIAMS – Lately Chief Executive Officer, Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust. For services to Heritage (Shropshire)

Mr Gerald Thomas NICKLESS – For services to the community in Shifnal, Shropshire (Shropshire)

Mr Scott SAUNDERS – For services to Emergency Response and to the community in Telford (Shropshire)

Mrs Turner said: “It brings me a huge amount of pleasure to see that Shropshire residents have once again been recognised by His Majesty for the outstanding work they have achieved. These medals are only given to a small proportion of people who have either achieved something exceptional in public life or selflessly made life better for others. It is a proud moment for all of us, and I would like to congratulate them all for their incredible efforts.”

The Honours system singles out individuals who have gone above and beyond in their field of interest, or through volunteering.

Allocated on merit, the Honours system sees recipients identified by government departments, private and public bodies, and members of the public to ensure that all aspects of community life in Britain are rewarded.
