A multi-cultural women’s support group has been launched in Shropshire

The Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Anna Turner was delighted to launch the new multi-cultural women’s group based at the new £2.5 Sikh temple at the site of the former tax offices in Priorslee, Telford.

The new gurdwara is much larger with better facilities than the previous gurdwara based at Oakengates with kitchens able to cater for 1000 people allowing for larger ceremonies to take place.

The women’s group has about 40 members, including Kuldip Sidhu who said it was a place to talk share problems, exercise and share food she said “since Covid I think mental wellbeing is a really big focus”

Almas Mansural, another member said it was open to all cultures and added: “the main focus is socialisation, it’s getting people to come out and understand that there is a support network here”
