Birthdays and Anniversaries marked by HM The King

Receiving a message from The King is an extra special gesture to mark a memorable day and is met with delight from recipients.

Some life events are worth recognition and that is certainly true of the milestones that can be celebrated with a personal message from The King.

Who can receive a birthday message from The King

Available to anyone marking these special occasions,

  • 100th birthday
  • 105th birthday (and every year after)
 
If the person gets a state pension or other benefit and lives in the UK you do not need to apply for a birthday message, this will be sent using the name and address on the person’s State Pension or other benefit record.

If the person does not get a State Pension or other benefits or does not live in the UK you need to apply for a message. You can apply:

  • no earlier than 5 weeks before the birthday date
  • up to 6 months after for a belated message.

Anniversaries

You can get a message for a couple’s:

  • 60th (diamond) anniversary

  • 65th anniversary

  • 70th (platinum) anniversary

  • anniversary each year following their 70th

  • You’ll need to send a copy of the couple’s marriage certificate when you apply.

  • no earlier than 5 weeks before the anniversary date if you apply online, or 3 weeks before if you apply by post.

Personal greetings and visits from the Lord-Lieutenant

The Lord-Lieutenant, Vice Lord-Lieutenant and Deputy Lieutenants are always delighted to visit Shropshire recipients of Birthday and Anniversary messages on their special day.  Please contact the Lieutenancy Team to arrange a Birthday or Anniversary visit.

In the event that you overlook the date, belated applications can also be made up to six months after the date.
