Beneath the Bearskin: Supporting Communities Across Shropshire

On October 30th, a fundraising evening entitled Beneath the Bearskin – featuring Garrison Sergeant Major Andrew “Vern” Stokes OBE, MVO  DL was held at Shrewsbury School in support of the 4 all Foundation.

The evening was hosted by Mrs Anna Turner, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire.

The event provided an opportunity for Vern to reflect on his journey from growing up in Madley and joining the Army at 16, to a career that has included operational service and involvement in major national occasions, including the State Funeral of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11 and the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles 111.

The event was arranged to raise awareness and support for all the outstanding work of the 4 all Foundation, which delivers opportunities and assistance to individuals and communities across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

The event raised more than £3,700 which will be used to support to support communities across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin, the evening was a fitting example of the way people across the county come together to support worthwhile causes and strengthen their local communities.
