Last month Deputy Lieutenant Fiona Rogers-Coltman visited the newly reopened Bishops Castle Cadet Detachment .
The detachment had been closed since before Covid, so its reopening is a wonderful opportunity for young people in the area.
Being part of the Cadets offers so much more than simply learning new skills. It helps young people develop confidence and self-belief, leadership skills, discipline and responsibility, while also providing friendships and a real sense of belonging. They have the opportunity to learn practical skills, enjoy new experiences, develop teamwork and resilience, become involved in their local community and, importantly, gain a real sense of achievement.
It is a fantastic opportunity for young people in Bishop’s Castle and the surrounding area and congratulations to everyone who has worked so hard to bring the detachment back to life.
