The Bishop of Lichfield installed six worthy clergy to occupy prebendal stalls in Lichfield Cathedral on Ascension Day last week. And alongside that, he also welcomed Mrs Claire Crackett MBE DL to be a Lay Canon of the cathedral.

Claire has long had links with the diocese, particularly with churches in Shrewsbury. She pioneered one of the earliest signings of the Armed Forces Covenant by a parish and recently organised the first ever Shropshire Day joint pilgrimage between our diocese and Hereford.

“Claire is an enthusiastic supporter of the Church of England, alongside her many other volunteering enterprises over many years. And all this alongside a high-tech career. I’m very grateful for her contributions to diocesan life” said Bishop Michael.
”And our new prebendaries are all priests who have distinguished and fruitful ministries in the diocese, and that they represent a wide diversity, in terms of geography, spiritual tradition and personal background.”

There are now three Prebendal stalls that remain to be filled: one for the Canon Precentor, Jonathan Bish who will be installed on 7 June. The remainig two nominees were unable to be present and will be installed soon.
