Lyneal Trust 40th Anniversary

The Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Mrs Anna Turner was delighted to accept an invitation from the Lyneal Trust to attend an event celebrating 40 years of helping people with disabilities or mobility issues to enjoy time on the Llangollen canal.

The charity is based at Lyneal Wharf, near Ellesmere, and has over 60 volunteers who welcome visitors, help to maintain the gardens and grounds, general boat maintenance and helping to keep the history and heritage of the canal life alive.

The event was also attended by High Sheriff Jane Trowbridge, donors, trustees and officers as well as current and former volunteers.

Mrs Turner said:

“ I was so pleased to spend some time with the Lyneal Trust to mark their 40th anniversary. It was interesting to see the facilities there and to enjoy the spectacular Shropshire scenery in the sunshine. A lovely afternoon tea provided by the WI rounded off a wonderful afternoon!”
