His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire

Welcome to The Shropshire Lieutenancy website, where I hope you will find all the information you need to discover more about this role, and how to involve the Royal Family in our community.

As the first woman to be appointed Lord-Lieutenant in the county since the role was established in the 1500s, I feel lucky and couldn’t wish for a better job.

Everything I do, which is thanking, congratulating, recognising, rewarding, and uniting on behalf of our Monarch, is positive and enjoyable

What is the Shropshire Lord-Lieutenant?

As his Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, I act as the county’s link to the Royal Family. I have been appointed to uphold the dignity of the Crown, which involves arranging visits and accompanying any member of the Royal Family when visiting the county.

As the Lord-Lieutenant I present King’s medals, King’s awards and commendations, and advise on nominations for honours. I promote and support local units of the Armed Forces, cadets and other uniformed organisations, alongside voluntary organisations, education providers, and local businesses.

Vitally, I can advise if it is appropriate, and offer help in sending an invitation to a member of the Royal Family.
